Rustins Plastic Coating and Hardener Gloss is a two-part clear cold cure lacquer for use on wood, hardboard, cork and plastic laminates.
Extremely good adhesion, resistant to heat, solvents and abrasion. Can be burnished to a mirror-like gloss or rubbed down to a smooth, satin finish with steel wool and wax.
For interior use only. Suitable for bare wood, suitably glued veneered wood, hardboard, MDF and unsealed cork.
An excellent finish for marquetry, as it does not darken light coloured veneers and does not yellow or craze on ageing.
Hard-dry within two hours of application. Two coats are usually sufficient on hardwood, but softwoods and cork may require a minimum of three coats, depending on the absorbency of the wood, it may be re-coated after an hour.
During preparation, the surface must be clean, smooth, dry and free from wax, dust and contaminants.
When applying, ensure that the mixing ratio is one-part hardener to four-parts coating by volume. Once mixed, it may be used for up to two days, if covered and kept cool. Use a brush, roller or lambswool pad and apply evenly and liberally, finishing in the direction of the grain.
Coverage is 13-15 sq.m per litre per coat. This can vary depending on the absorbency of the wood.
Rustins Plastic Coating and Hardener Gloss is sold in 250ml / 1L / 4L containers.
